I enjoyed the holidays and the time off but it feels good to get back in a routine! And I've been dying to blog about my latest project. I made 2 great scores at Goodwill right around Christmas. I've been working on transforming one of them on my time off. Check out the brutal before:
Sorry took this photo with my iphone so it's not the best. My initial plan with this one was to remove those pulls, put one coat of Annie Sloan's Old White followed by a coat of 'Interesting Aqua'-Sherwin Williams. Then I was going to heavily distress making some of the white show through with some of the wood.
BUT...when I started painting the aqua over the white I loved the contrast of the 2 colors together and i liked the detail of this piece being a different color so it stands out more. So here is the direction it took....
I finished it off with 2 knobs from Hobby Lobby and a coat of Annie's Sloan's clear wax. I love the direction the piece took and the final result. The best part I only have $14 in the whole piece. The table was $6 and the knobs were on sale for $3 each. I already had all the paint and the wax.
I love before and afters and what an amazing transformation Tabbey...this is gorgeous! You did such a great job :)
ReplyDeletethat looks so pretty! i love the white details- they really pop!
ReplyDeleteHonestly...I have a table so similar to this that I stole from Craigslist (while buying a second table for son's room). I am still unsure how I want to refinish it...but I love how you did yours!!! :)
ReplyDeleteWow, I never thought that original table would look good, but you made it look great! Amazing! I love the standing kitty in the background too. I am a new follower visiting from Fireflies and Jellybeans. Vicky from Mess For Less
ReplyDeleteThis is so fabulous! It turned out so pretty!
ReplyDeleteAs beautiful as a piece of vintage Wedgewood!!
ReplyDeleteKatt is spot on! This is a perfect copy of vintage Wedgewood, and you should sell these!
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love the way you beautified that table! Great work! :)
ReplyDeleteHi TAbbey, this table is one of the most beautiful I have seen in a long time. It so reminds me of all the Blue and White Wedgewood I used to own. You did a wonderful job. Kudos. I have recently found your blog and am now following you, and will visit often. Please stop by my blog and perhaps you would like to follow me also. Have a wonderful day. Hugs, Chris

That is soooo stinkin' cute! I absolutely love the color combo (reminds me of a Tiffany box!) and how you brought out the table's details by using two colors.
