Weekend Find

Loving this warm weather in the south because there are outdoor sales galore. I scored this little table on Saturday. Thanks to the rainy day on Sunday I've already finished it. As usual, i almost forgot to take a before picture. It was all wood like the top. I had already slapped on one coat of white on the bottom when i remembered to take the pic.

Before:
LOVE the spindle legs...I'm a sucker for any piece of furniture with these legs.

After:

Top is AS Duck Egg Blue and bottom is AS Old White. One coat of clear AS wax to finish it off. So torn because this was meant to go in my booth to be sold. Love it so much i wanna keep it now!

Window Table

I found them at an antique store on my travels. 4 lonesome little legs for $20. They were old, paint-chipped, multi-colored and had a lot of character. I had been wanting to make a table of some sort out of a door or window so they were perfect! It ended up the legs were tall enough for a breakfast/kitchen table so they wouldn't do for a coffee table size. I found an old window at a thrift store and decided they were a match. I didn't take any before's of the legs and the window unattached from each other but I did take pics before I painted.

Before

This was my first table so I was a little green. I first wood-glued each leg to the corner of the table and let them sit for a few days. I could tell that it needed much more stability so I got some L brackets and attached 2 to each leg and it was good to go. Sturdy as could be.

I knew I wanted to paint the window but wasn't sure about the legs. Then i decided a little chalk paint never hurt nobody. So I did Old White on the legs and painted the window DandyLion mixed with Old White. No tape necessary just scraped off the paint on the glass with a razor when done.

After

Completely forgot to take pics of this at home before I took to my booth so had to run up there yesterday to get some pics to post....so scatterbrained. This table is still an awkward size. Tall enough for a kitchen table yet couldn't really serve as that. Sort of what I ended up liking about it though because it's so different. I can see it in a sunroom or tiny loft apartment.

Painted Chair

Hi friends! It's been awhile since i've posted. Work kept me traveling all last week, the week before and I will also be gone this week. What little spare time I had this weekend was spent trying to get everything together and ready that I'm going to put in my booth which I get to move into this weekend. I made over a chair yesterday. I love all the spindle detail on this little chair.

Before

Paint is ASCP duck egg blue and coco. Finished off with AS clear wax.

Just Add White!

I bought a piece of furniture a few years ago mainly because I liked the color of it (clearly this was before I started painting myself).

It sits in the dining room and the color just wasn't doing it for me anymore. I decided I wanted to paint the drawers to start things off.

I re-created the rough edges on the drawers by distressing them again with a wire brush. I left the gold lines in between the drawers and the turquoise legs and sides. I am still thinking of painting the sides Coco and leaving the legs turquoise but I'm going to sit on it for a few weeks. The new colors scheme fits into my house much better so I'm very happy with the result.

White Legs

I decided that my dining room table needed some lightening up.

I left the top wood. I did a few coats of Annie Sloan's Old White, distressed some and then a coat of clear wax. Not sure if I'm finished with this piece yet but I definitely like the direction it's going so far. The chairs aren't finished yet either. I have something in mind for them that I will share soon.

Twin Tables

I've had these 2 little tables for quite sometime and decided they finally needed some attention. I bought these at a little store here in Little Rock for cheap. I love them because they are in the same family, yet different. You have that relative right?? I also love them because they are small enough I can move them around as often as I want and they go anywhere.

I used 'Interesting Aqua' Sherwin Williams on them. Then topped off with a coat of Annie Sloan's clear wax.

Fancy is my name!

I enjoyed the holidays and the time off but it feels good to get back in a routine! And I've been dying to blog about my latest project. I made 2 great scores at Goodwill right around Christmas. I've been working on transforming one of them on my time off. Check out the brutal before:
Sorry took this photo with my iphone so it's not the best. My initial plan with this one was to remove those pulls, put one coat of Annie Sloan's Old White followed by a coat of 'Interesting Aqua'-Sherwin Williams. Then I was going to heavily distress making some of the white show through with some of the wood.
BUT...when I started painting the aqua over the white I loved the contrast of the 2 colors together and i liked the detail of this piece being a different color so it stands out more. So here is the direction it took....

I finished it off with 2 knobs from Hobby Lobby and a coat of Annie's Sloan's clear wax. I love the direction the piece took and the final result. The best part I only have $14 in the whole piece. The table was $6 and the knobs were on sale for $3 each. I already had all the paint and the wax.
