Iron Headboard

Finally, a week that doesn't involve all travel. I've been missing posting and catching up on my fav blogs and Pinterest! My days just don't seem complete without searching for a little inspiration on fellow blogs and pinterest. I have my fellow bloggers to thank for allowing me to discover my love for furniture and design. And for sharing such great tips and advice along the way! Thanks fellow bloggers!

So as i mentioned I travel a lot for my real job (medical equipment sales). I'm based in Little Rock, AR but I cover all of AR, MS and south AL. I am very fortunate because I get to come across a lot of southern flea markets and thrift stores on my journeys. I get a lot of my stuff on these trips. It seems to make all the driving a little less exhausting and tends to make the finished product a little more special in the end.

I moved into my booth this weekend and can't express how excited I am to be able to share my pieces with others. I will take pictures of it soon. I finished this headboard this weekend and put it in there yesterday. I've had this since high school. There was a wrought iron store in my hometown that hand-forged furniture and it came from there. It's such a gorgeous piece but it's for a full size bed and i see it in a younger room so I made the decision to paint it and put in the booth.

I couldn't get a great picture of this no matter what I tried so I apologize for the poor quality.
I went back and forth on how to do this piece. Spray paint vs. brush painting and regular paint vs. chalk paint. I decided to use Annie Sloan chalk paint for a few reasons. One being that i really wanted to distress it and make it look older after it was painted and chalk paint sands seamlessly, and two I could just see it in my head in Old White and Paris Grey. So that's just what i did. I also added a coat of clear wax to it. I'll take another picture of it in the booth later and see if it shows it any better.
